HAIKU ORIGINAL is a series of Japanese knives produced in small family factories. Blades are made from molybdenum-vanadium steel and hand polished by Japanese masters. Material is hardened to values nearing 60HRC, ensuring good resistance against dulling. Borrowing from an ancient samurai sword making method, a bamboo peg ("Mekugi") is inserted from the side into every HAIKU knife where the tang and handle are joined for added stability. The handle is made from Japanese Honoroki wood. There are many knives made in Asia that look similar to HAIKU, but you can feel the difference when sharpening or cutting with a true HAIKU. Original Haiku will have a „Mekugi“pin inserted and falcon depicted. Always look for those signs to ensure you have genuine Chroma HAIKU knife.
