CHROMA Haiku Home
HAIKU HOME is a series of traditional Japanese knives made in Seki city, a center of Japanese knife industry. As the name may suggest, this line is intended for home use or for beginner cooks. Compared to Haiku Original, the material of blade is thinner and less hardened, which makes the knives more affordable, however the quality of manufacturing is high as these are still Japanese products. -
CHROMA Haiku Original
HAIKU ORIGINAL is a series of Japanese knives produced in small family factories. Blades are made from molybden-vanadium steel and hand polished by Japanse masters. Material is hardened to values nearing 60HRC, ensuring good resistance agains dulling. Borrowing from an ancient samurai sword making method, a bamboo peg mekugi is inserted from the side into every HAIKU knife where the tang and handle are joined for added stability. The handle is made from japanese Honoki wood.There are many knives made in Asia that look similar to HAIKU, but you can feel the difference when sharpening or cutting with a true HAIKU. Original Haiku will have a mekugi pin inserted and falcon depicted, always look for those signs to ensure you have genunie Chroma HAIKU. -
